Why can't I open my document/file?

http://kb.library.bethel.edu/articles/140/
  • Check to see what format your document is in. You can do this by looking at the file extension after the name of your file. For example,

    mso.jpg

means that your file is in document (.doc) format and can be opened with Microsoft Word.   Some formats do not open in Word, such as .wpd, and you will need to convert your document.  See the technician at the Information Commons for help converting your file.

*It is best to save your word processing document as .RTF (Rich Text Format) to avoid these issues*
