How do I add/format tabs in my word document?

http://kb.library.bethel.edu/articles/133/

You can add a tab stop by clicking on the ruler bar where you want your tab to be.
A tab stop mark will appear in this location as shown by the photo below.

  • You can change the type of tab to any of the ones pictured above by formatting the tab. To format the tab, double click on the tab stop mark.
  • There are also different types of tab stops

tableft.gif A Left Tab stop sets the start position of text that will run to the right as you type.
tabcenter.gif
A Center Tab stop sets the position at the middle of the text. The text centers on this position as you type.
tabright.gif A Right Tab stop sets the right end of the text. As you type, the text moves to the left.
tabdec.gif A Decimal Tab stop aligns numbers around a decimal point. Independent of the number of digits, the decimal point remains in the same position. (You can align numbers around a decimal character only. You cannot use the decimal tab to align numbers around a different character, such as a hyphen or an ampersand symbol.)
